To address NFT speculation and electronic waste issues, a recycling device for old monitors has been developed as an NFT platform. This device uses replaceable textured filters to enhance outdated displays, allowing artists to create and sell integrated artworks. A custom-made frame accommodates various monitor sizes. The project aims to recycle discarded electronics while revitalizing the art market, offering a sustainable alternative to the current practices of the speculative NFT market.
NFT artworks that remain solely as digital files and are not consumed as art are nothing more than speculative financial products, lacking any deeper meaning. Art is the result of someone's creativity, and this result must inspire or provide aesthetic satisfaction to the consumer to hold value as a tradable commodity. When working on the MONOLITH project, NFTs saw a high volume of individual transactions. However, as predicted, the consumption of these NFTs has significantly decreased over the years. Through this piece, we hope to inspire various ways for artworks to be consumed and to revitalize the activities of creators.
