The Arctic Circle is one of the five major hypocrites of the Earth shown on the map. As of 2011, it passed 66° 33' 44” (66.5622°) north latitude. The Arctic Circle is the southern limit of white nights when the sun does not set in summer and polar nights when the sun does not rise in winter. Qoon is a multidisciplinary designer based in Seoul, South Korea. Working with clients around the world, we support creative direction, branding, visual identities, packaging, website.
With a background in industrial design, I draw inspiration from the forms and textures of real objects, which sets my work apart as a graphic designer. Designing products and furniture has introduced me to various natural materials that produce irregular, unique patterns, unlike computer-generated graphics. These patterns help create a strong connection between the design and its subject. I believe that combining these elements with digital technologies will lead to innovative approaches in graphic design. For example, my Monolith project explores architectural textures from Korean ruins, transforming them into life-sized printed media, and is a key example of my approach. My interest in real-world textures has expanded into using motion and technologies like Touch Designer and Blender to bring them into digital experiences. I see the application of these tools as essential for a designer’s growth. The reaction of surprise and engagement from people encountering this fusion of traditional and digital methods motivates me to continue pushing creative boundaries.
Since graduating, I have worked in media production, branding agencies, and interior design studios, seeking to connect my skills across diverse fields. I have applied these experiences by creating ceramic objects and installation artworks, which I exhibited and photographed. More recently, I participated in graphic design exhibitions like ORGD and Good Design: Answer, showcasing work that transformed ink-splattered drawings into digital designs, further evolving my creative identity.
